Rabbits

8 week old baby American Chinchilla's

Here at Blind Faith Hobby Farm we raise Purebred American Chinchilla Rabbits (a rare heritage breed).  The breed was first introduced in 1913 and widely sought after in both America and Britain throughout the years until 1940.  With the crash of the fur trades in the late 1940's and most remaining fur markets demanding white pelts only, the American Chinchilla reach low conservation numbers.  Over the past decade, breeders of this rabbit have been working to increase it's popularity and show status in order to save the breed from extinction; all the while, maintaining the best qualities of the rabbit in fur, size, and overall confirmation.  The American Chinchilla is a large, hardy and gentle animal, with mature bucks weighing in at 9 to 11 pounds and does at 10 to 12 pounds. They produce large litters, have good mothering instincts, and fryers reach market weight quickly.  At first glance the American Chinchilla is salt and peppered colored, but once the fur is blown into, four distinct bands of color will appear. (sited from albc-usa.org).

We currently have 3 bucks and 6 does in our breeding program, with two new bucks currently being raised for future breeding.

In addition to American Chinchilla rabbits, we also breed California Rabbit crosses and New Zealand Rabbits, both purebred and cross rabbits.

Kits are arriving every four weeks until late fall.  Please check below for current litters and their availability dates.
