Candles

 All natural Soy/Beeswax blend candles.  Our candles were born out of a simple idea...to make our own candles in case of a power-outage.  Funny enough, answering an ad for "wax for sale" in the local classifieds landed me in over 750 lbs of wax!  After many attempts to make our own candles, we came up with a blend that was truly awesome.  We made them from mostly soy wax with beeswax added to stabilize the blend.  Soy is a plant based wax that won't cause soot to gather in the container and is non-toxic to burn (unlike parafin waxes).  We use an all natural braided cotton wick (no zinc) and the most natural botanical oils we can find for the scents.  None of our candles are dyed - we chose not to add any chemicals to the candles in order to keep them as pure as possible.

Soy wax like beeswax has a "memory".  When burning a soy/beeswax candle, you need to allow the first initial lighting to burn for 3-4 continuous hours to allow the burn pool to spread to all the edges of the container.  If you blow the candle out too early (before reaching the edges), the candle will "remember" where it burned to the first time and cause a tunnel effect down the center of the container.  After your first initial burn, you can then burn your candle as long as you wish, although, it is recommended not to leave it burning for more than 4 hours.  Be sure to allow the candle to cool undisturbed and to trim the wick back to 1/8" before the next burning.  When your candle reaches the bottom (about a 1/4" from the bottom), no longer burn the candle, as the wick will loose stability and fall over into the wax pool.  No worries if the flame does touch the wax - it will simply put itself out.

Our candles are available in many scents and two optional sizes.  The 16oz candle in the antique mason jar has approximately 120 hours of burn time.  The 6oz candle in the hex jar has approximately 50 hours of burn time. (New jars are arriving for fall of 2014 - hex jars will no longer be available).
